TAKING THE LEAD

Taking the Lead (1)

Hello! It’s the first Sunday in September and that means we’re less than four months away from the coming year. We are excited the year has been pleasant for us, especially as it is our birth year. How about you, by the way? Any new start-ups this year, notable progress or milestone yet? If there are, we celebrate you, and if there are none yet, so long as you have your plan and you are following it the right way, we are sure it’ll come to fruition soon.

One of the reasons we have had a great year so far is because of the amazing life-changing teachings we’ve been getting from Gloryzone Church. Starting from June, we brought you the Kingdom Power Systems series, followed by Fire on my Altar in July, and The Economy of Joy series last month.

This month, a new series would be taught, titled Taking the Lead, and it would be taught across all centres. It is a series that is especially aimed at providing the right orientation and empowerment for Christians on leadership and showing why every person on earth is called into leadership. If this sounds controversial to you (after all, if we all lead, who will follow, right?), then you should follow through the series completely, whether you are on-site or online.

Before I go into today’s introductory teaching for the series, there are a few things you should know:

First, today’s teaching was taught by the Resident Pastor, Gloryzone Headquarter in Jos, Pastor Peter Emmanuel, as Dr Karis was present at the Abuja church and we couldn’t cover the teaching there.

Second, the BAF to Church campaign is still on and this means that in addition to reading this post if you don’t have a church you belong to where you are effectively growing, you are invited to visit and be a member of Gloryzone Church. We would love to have you present, especially if you are in the beautiful city of Jos.

So, let's go to today's teaching:

Teachings on leadership are found almost everywhere, both inside and outside the church. However, unlike what the world offers, teachings on leadership in the church are not devoid of power, they are transformational.

Leadership is in our nature; it is the true essence of our nature, and being made in the image of God means having the nature of leadership.

Everyone was born to lead but not everyone is leading successfully.

Leadership is about your identity and your assignment, who you are determines what you do, and this is where true biblical leadership begins. Galatians 6:4-5.

God cannot use you if you don't understand who you are. In the story of Gideon, God first had to address the issue of his identity before using him.

Learning about leadership and knowing what it takes to be a leader are two different things. You can learn about leadership by reading, studying etc, but it takes revelation to know what it takes to be a leader and that revelation is found only in the Bible.

God cannot use you if you don't understand who you are.

As a believer, you must first look into the word of God to know his perspective on leadership before forming your opinions around secular materials (seminars, books, tapes etc)

Biblical leadership starts from a place of service and influence as Jesus taught and modelled (Matt 20:25-28), it isn't like the world system that focuses on power, command, and authority. Leadership is not a call to control people or lord it over them. We were created to be led, not to be controlled

Leadership Mandate

1. Dominion mandate (Genesis 1:26-28)

God gave man a mandate to dominate the earth and have authority over it. you have it in you to lead, to take charge, and to dominate; it is inherent. You don't necessarily have to be a boss to lead, you must not necessarily have a title. Find your place in your sector where you have been called and own it, it's inherent in you.

1. Leadership is Taking Responsibility

As a leader, you don't abdicate responsibility, you accept it. When you abandon your responsibility, you abandon your leadership.

Adam was given leadership by God and it came with responsibilities, including keeping the garden and naming the animals. Once he abdicated his responsibility, he gave it to the woman who gave it to the serpent (the devil).

David, on the other hand, was a man who knew how to take responsibility and that was why he could have Goliath when others were in a state of panic.

As Christians, we must take responsibility for our lives, careers, businesses, and the world at large for the gospel's sake. There is a mandate on you to take charge.

There is a supply that follows when you take responsibility.

When you take responsibility, there is a supply that follows, heaven takes action to support your decision. Don't wait till you get titles before you take charge, it is a mandate you've already received from God.

Here's our stop for today, it's the first service only. For more content, visit the social media platforms of Gloryzone church, and while you're at it, prepare your mind to be in church next Sunday.

Blessings!
