PUT OFF THAT TV!

Top Cartoons That Made Childhood Fun (Action)

Did you just notice that June and cartoon rhyme? Yeah, gotcha! This month, we look at cartoons that were popular on local television at the beginning of the 21st century. If you haven’t heard of these cartoons, it suggests you were born in the 21st century. If you followed them well, you’re probably between ages 25 – 35 right now. If you saw them as children program then, you should probably try catch up with your own kids sometime soon.

We start off with the action series, one for the boys of then especially, and let’s see who remembers what. This is the first part, second part drops next week.

1. The Zeta Project

"My name is Zeta. I was built as a weapon to destroy, but I would not destroy anybody."

A favourite cartoon of mine, Zeta is the story of a humanoid robot that was designed by Dr Selig, a scientist, to carry out assassinations on behalf of the National Security Agency. On a mission, he discovers that a target he was sent to kill was innocent, and this creates certain feelings in him. He finds out that he can no longer kill, and this makes him go rogue on the NSA.

Believing that he has been reprogrammed by enemies, the NSA seeks to capture him, led by Agent Bennett. Zeta tries to find his creator, and he is helped by his friend, Rosalie.

2. Biker Mice

The largely successful series ran from 1993 – 1996. It is the story of three anthropomorphic mice, Throttle, Modo, and Vinnie. They are regular bikers on Mars who are fortunate to escape the destruction of their planet by the specie called Plutarkians, who go about destroying planets after wasting their own home planet.

They are chased on their way to Earth but they manage to land on a field, and quickly they meet Charley, an amazing mechanic. On Earth, they find out that a Plutarkian, disguises as a human, by the name Lawrence Limburger. Limburger aims to destroy Earth and it is the mission of the mice to thwart his plans.

3. Spiderman & His Amazing Friends

New York superhero, Spiderman, is joined by two other superheroes: Iceman and Firestar. They help him fight crime, usually in the form of bad scientists or criminal gangs aimed at making lives difficult for the people of New York.

4. Fantastic Four

The popular story of a scientist. Reed Richards (Mr Fantastic), who takes his team (consisting of his fiancée, her brother, and a friend), on an exploration mission to space. They are involved in an accident and this gives them unique abilities. His team members are Susan Storm (Invisible Woman), Johnny Storm (Human Torch), and Ben Grimm (The Thing).

They use their powers to fight against threats to civil life in the country, especially their main antagonist, Victor von Doom.

5. Justice League

What’s better than a suprhero cartoon? A cartoon of many superheroes! Marvel DC brings together seven superheroes to form an association, known as The Justice League. Headed by Superman, with their headquarters in space, they protect the earth from internal and external threats. Justice League was probably very popular because it featured a lot of heroes and their battles with their personal and collective enemies.
Other team members are: Green Lantern, Martian, Batman, Princess Diana, Hawk girl and the Flash.

So, that's where we stop for now. You'll have our next list next week. Do you remember the programs and their characters?
