IF YOU DIDN'T SEE THEM

5 Adventure Cartoons From The 90s

Here we are again, another remembrance of days gone by, and our favourite screen buddies. First we brought you the superheroes, then the furry heroes. This time is adventure time. Are you ready for a quest? Let's go!

1. The Adventures of RedBeard

This is the legendary story of the pirate captain, Redbeard, who owns and commands the Black Falcon. The captain, who is of French origin, goes on many dangerous adventures as he is wanted by the government of various nations. He steals from the governments and is always a step ahead of their efforts to catch him.

Most of his adventures are either at sea or ports, although he visits the towns every now and then. He is accompanied by his adopted son, Eric; as well as Tripod and Baba.

2. Alix

Alix is the story of a young Gallo-Roman man by the same name. He is a courageous, kind, and brave young man who was captured and sold into slavery during the Roman Empire.

His adventures focus more on self-identity, government, politics, and warfare. He is supported by Enak, an Egyptian orphan who is his best friend and the ever available ear to his musings. Together, they fight, journey, and seek for ultimate freedom.

3. The Legend of Zorro

The only Japanese cartoon to make this series, this is about the adventures of a bashful teenager, Don Diego, who leads a secret life as town hero and mystical figure of his homeland, California, after it was taken over forcefully by the Spanish Army.

Zorro always had a penchant for being up to mischief in his usual self; while as the hero he focused on solving mysteries and providing justice to his people. Too often, he is almost caught, but always manages to make it out of disaster, just in the nick of time.

Other characters are Lolita, Lieutenant Gabriel, and Don Alejandro de la Vega.

4. Princess Sheherazade

This was based on the famous legend of Princess Sheherazade. The daughter of the great vizier of the then Persian king, Shahryar (does that sound like Sharia to you?); she was the only queen to survive the tyranny of the heartbroken ruler.

She always dreads being killed by her husband, but has a sure accomplice in her friend, Till, who has the ability to transform herself into any creature. Together, they make it through night after night as they explore the adventures of their Arabian world.

Characters include Sheherazade, Till, Nour, and Farid

5. The Real Adventures of Jonny Quest

Jonny, Jessie, and Hadji go off on adventure missions, attempting to investigate and solve mysteries. Accompanied by his father, they go on unique quests and are met with rather interesting outcomes.

The series took on a rather unusual archaeological and philosophical theme, but never really hit desired heights and got cancelled.

How many did you see? Any favourite here? I would really like to know.

Till I come your way again, stay smart!
